5 Reasons Why You Should Stay Away From Dairy

Dairy products like milk, yogurt, cheese, and cottage cheese, are controversial these days. This is one of the big topics most non-vegans just don’t get — why you should stop eating and drinking dairy for good.

1. Human Beings Are Lactose Intolerant

Similarly, another study found that adolescent girls who consumed the most calcium, mostly in the form of dairy products, were at greater risk for stress fractures than those consuming less calcium.3

4. Dairy Can Cause Heart Problems

Milk and other dairy products are the top sources of artery-clogging saturated fat in the American diet. Milk products also contain dietary cholesterol. Diets high in fat, saturated fat, and cholesterol increase the risk of heart disease, which remains America’s top killer.4

5. Dairy Can Trigger Cancer Cells

Research shows that higher intakes of both calcium and dairy products may increase a man’s risk of prostate cancer by 30 to 50 percent.5 Studies suggest the strong associations between milk intake and prostate cancer could be due to milk’s fat, calcium, and hormone levels. Other theories suggest the link could be caused by the negative impact high-calcium foods have on vitamin D balance, the increase in serum insulin-like growth factor I (IGF-I) concentrations caused by dairy, and the effect of dairy on testosterone levels.6
