Summer Health Tips

Ah, here goes longer days of fun under the sun: summer is here! And this only means that it’s time to go surfing, chilling out with friends, doing pool parties, and of course, setting forth on long road trips and getaways! But in order to make the most of the warm weather, it is also important to stay healthy by learning how to balance the pH level in your body and take appropriate health precautions to avoid health risks this season.

Needless to say, the onset of the warm weather may make your body more susceptible to a number of diseases. Common health issues experienced during summer include dehydration, heatstroke, heat rash, allergies, migraines, sunburn, and so forth. To ensure that you are properly balancing pH in your body, here are some summer health tips to guide you in making the most of this season

3 Tips to Stay Healthy this Summer

1. Make sure to get enough sleep.

While there are so many fun activities that you can do this summer, hopefully, you are not neglecting one of the most important needs of your body: sleep. Aside from allowing your body to rest, sleeping plays a critical role in your health, particularly in growth, development, learning, memory, regulation of behavior, immune strengthening, and cleansing the neurotoxic substances in the body.1 In fact, studies have shown the importance of sleep in optimizing memory consolidation.2

2. Stay hydrated.

In order to help your body in its cooling process, it is important to stay hydrated and drink a lot of liquids like water or drinks with electrolytes (most especially when you are doing strenuous activities under the heat of the sun). Aside from affecting your mood and cognitive performance, dehydration and lack of water supplementation has been recently found to affect cognitive reflection in judgment and decision making.3

So, to avoid these from happening, make sure to drink your water and eat food (like fruits and vegetables) that are high in water content.

3. Eat a well-balanced diet.

Yes, it’s fun to BBQ with friends and family this summer. However, we also know the long-term effects of always eating these grilled foods. So, instead of your regular burgers and brats, maybe you can do a little tweak on your food preparation by adding some fruits and vegetables for a fresh side dish. You can also make the most of the seasonal vegetables and fruits that are abundant during summer.

Health specialists have always been encouraging the inclusion of vegetables into our diet because of their inherent nutritional value.4 But in case you really find it difficult to source out and prepare your fruits and vegetables, you may opt for some green superfood supplement like pHresh Superblends™ that can already provide you with the recommended 5 – 9 servings of fruits and vegetables a day by the USDA. Green superfoods like pHresh Greens® and pHresh greens® Raw Alkalizing Superfood are full spectrum alkalizing superfood blends that are made from energy-rich vegetables, cereal grasses, and sea algae that you can conveniently enjoy by simply adding water to enjoy them as juice or smoothie.

Make the most of your summer by staying active and carefully choosing your food intake. Remember that summer is not only the perfect time to enjoy the warm weather but it’s also a great time to make the best version of yourself: someone healthier and more active.
